“An Exchange about to take place…” – Celtic ready to sell star player, and then, sign left-back this January, as Brendan Rodgers reveals interest to SIGN star player.

Celtic’s left-back Alexandro Bernabei faces a transfer dilemma as the club sets a high asking price amid interest from Brazilian side Internacional. Bernabei, who joined Celtic from Lanús in 2022 for nearly £4 million, has struggled to secure a regular spot due to the strong form of Scotland international Greg Taylor and some discipline issues. Now on loan at Internacional, Bernabei has found success and is reportedly eager to stay in Brazil, especially with the opportunity to play in the prestigious Copa Libertadores.

However, Internacional faces a significant challenge: Celtic’s demand for an €10 million (£8.32 million) transfer fee, as reported by Brazilian outlet Porto do Colorado. This price appears to be beyond what the Brazilian club is willing to pay. Though keen on retaining the 24-year-old defender, Internacional may consider extending his loan through 2025 if a permanent deal proves financially unfeasible.

Celtic, meanwhile, seems intent on offloading Bernabei, their first Argentine signing, who has had limited impact since joining the team. Manager Brendan Rodgers has shown little interest in reintegrating him, having used Bernabei only sparingly. The club also recently added Alex Valle on loan as another left-back option, signaling they’re looking elsewhere for defensive depth.

While it remains uncertain whether Internacional will meet Celtic’s valuation, it’s clear that Bernabei’s future with the Scottish champions is in doubt, with his next chapter likely to continue in South America.
