Kris Boyd Sparks Controversy with Claim Brendan Rodgers Was “Very Lucky” Not to See Red

Celtic’s resounding 6-0 victory over Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final has garnered widespread praise, but former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has courted controversy with his assessment of Brendan Rodgers’ conduct.

During the match, Rodgers was booked for kicking the ball after a touchline rant, which ended with him slipping and falling, much to the amusement of the Hampden crowd. While the incident passed without major incident, Boyd believes Rodgers was fortunate to avoid a red card.

Boyd stated on Go Ballistic, “It’ll be interesting to see if Brendan Rodgers would rank that performance… But should he have been sent off? I think he’s very lucky. I think we saw Derek McInnes had been sent off for something similar at Dens Park, was it last year or the year before?”

Boyd’s comments are the latest in a series of criticisms aimed at Celtic this season. Previously, he labeled Rangers’ 3-0 defeat to Celtic as “embarrassing” and conceded that Celtic would likely win the league by “a few good points.”

Celtic’s dominance has seemingly gotten under Boyd’s skin, with the former Rangers striker suffering a string of frustrating moments this season. His predictions have consistently been proven wrong, and Celtic’s continued success has left him fuming.

As the Scottish champions continue to assert their authority, Boyd’s reactions have become increasingly entertaining for Celtic fans. With the Hoops showing no signs of slowing down, it remains to be seen how Boyd will react to their continued dominance.
