Former Celtic captain Scott Brown has expressed his enthusiasm for the prospect of Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic Park. Tierney, who currently plays for Arsenal, has been sidelined with an injury, but Brown believes his return to Celtic would be “unbelievable.”
Brown told HotlineLive (via Football Scotland), “He is at Arsenal now and he obviously wants to go back and play games. It’s up to him what he does and where he goes. If he was ever to come back it would be unbelievable. But he’s got to focus on Arsenal and get back into that team.”
Tierney, 27, rose through Celtic’s youth academy before breaking into the first team in 2015. He went on to make 170 appearances for the club, winning four Scottish Premiership titles, the Scottish Cup, and the League Cup.
In 2019, Tierney joined Arsenal in a lucrative deal, and has since made 124 appearances for the Gunners, scoring five goals. Despite his success in England, Tierney has struggled with injuries, and was loaned to Real Sociedad last season to gain more playing time.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta recently provided an update on Tierney’s injury, stating, “I think he’s quite close, he looks good, really sharp. He hasn’t trained with the team yet, hopefully, he can do that in the next week or two.”
While Tierney’s future remains uncertain, Brown’s comments will undoubtedly spark speculation among Celtic fans about a potential return to Glasgow.
