As the January transfer window approaches, Leeds United are beginning to be linked with several players. One of the latest names to emerge is Mahmoud Jaber, a 25-year-old midfielder who currently plays for Maccabi Haifa.
According to reports, Leeds have not yet made contact with Jaber or his representatives, but the club is keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of the January transfer window.
Jaber has been capped 10 times by Israel at senior international level and has made over 100 appearances for Maccabi Haifa, scoring four goals and providing 11 assists. He has won the Israeli league title and Israeli Super Cup twice apiece.
However, it’s worth noting that Jaber’s playing style may not be what Leeds United need at the moment. He is primarily a defensive midfielder, and Leeds already have a number of players in this position, including Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka, and Joe Rothwell.
The only type of midfielder Leeds should be looking to sign in January is an attacking one to provide cover and competition for Brenden Aaronson. Jaber does not fit this profile, and it’s unclear why Leeds would be interested in signing him.
In other news, Leeds United have been linked with a move for Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman. The 21-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring five goals in eight league appearances, and Leeds have reportedly approached Maccabi Tel Aviv over a potential deal.
