Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the transfer window, but it would involve them losing one of their own key stars. It comes as the Gunners continued to be linked with bolstering their forward options with a centre-forward in the transfer market.

Following on from their £200million spend in the summer transfer window, the north London outfit have still been questioned over their clinical ability to score goals. Despite sitting second with an unbeaten record in the Premier League, their two draws so far have seen chances put down.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are the two main options in the striker role, but they are perhaps lacking that concise ability to find the back of the net consistently. It has led to plenty of links over making a signing in that position to add that clinicality to their play.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney has been linked as well as Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, with the former looking likely to leave the Bees in January, though the latter has signed a new deal at Villa Park. Then there’s Osimhen, who has been a more expensive option but one that may be available soon.

With a dwindling contract, the Nigerian forward has continued to be rumoured with a deal elsewhere, having impressed for the Italian side. However, things have appeared to take a turn for the Italian champions in recent weeks as their season has had a poor start towards a title defence.

On top of that was problems off of the pitch, with Osimhen’s agent threatening legal action against the club for videos posted on social media regarding the star. It has all ramped up discussions over an exit and may give Arsenal their chance to pounce and land a new striker.

According to Calciomercato, that possibility may be arising in January, where a full sale may be expected if contract issues aren’t resolved. On top of that, Napoli are also looking at replacements, with the report claiming that Gabriel Jesus is a concrete option as part of a swap deal.

Whether that would entice Arsenal is another question though, given the importance of the Brazilian since joining the club from Manchester City last summer.
