Tuesday’s evening DONE DEAL: Celtic TO sign player with 10 goals and assists

Celtic FC is considering signing Sondre Orjasaeter, a 21-year-old Norwegian winger from Sarpsborg, in the January transfer window. Orjasaeter is valued at £5m and has been in impressive form in the Eliteserien, contributing 10 goals and assists in 28 appearances.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster his options on the left flank, and Orjasaeter fits the bill as a right-footed forward who plays on the left side of the attack. The Norwegian youngster has been described as an “interesting” player by football talent scout Jacek Kulig.

Orjasaeter’s statistics suggest that he has the ability to score and create goals, but needs to find more consistency in his end product in the final third. This is similar to the trajectory of Celtic’s current star winger, Nicolas Kuhn, who took time to adapt after joining from Rapid Vienna in January 2024.

Kuhn has since become a crucial player for Celtic, scoring 16 goals and providing 11 assists in 27 appearances across all competitions. Rodgers is hoping to replicate this success with Orjasaeter, who has the potential to grow and develop over the years to come.

Signing Orjasaeter would be a shrewd move by Celtic, as he would provide competition for Daizen Maeda on the left flank and potentially become a key player for the club in the future.
