Everton is searching for a new manager after sacking Sean Dyche, and one potential candidate has already ruled himself out of the running. Leighton Baines, who managed Everton to a win against Peterborough United in the FA Cup, has stated that he is not interested in taking over as the permanent manager.

Baines, who has been managing Everton’s U18s since 2022, was asked about the possibility of becoming the new manager, but he replied, “I’m not, no. I am happy to help in whatever way I can.” He also expressed his pride in helping the team win against Peterborough United.

Everton is reportedly considering other options, with David Moyes and Paulo Fonseca emerging as frontrunners. Moyes is expected to be appointed on a short-term deal until the end of the campaign.

Baines has been gaining experience as a manager with Everton’s U18s and has received praise from Paul Tait, the manager of Everton’s U21s. Tait described Baines as “such a professional” with “high standards” and praised his meticulous planning and attention to detail.

While Baines has ruled himself out of the running for the manager’s position, he is expected to continue playing a role in the development of young players at Everton.
