Sport nationLeeds United is reportedly pushing strongly to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies before the end of the January transfer window. According to TeamTalk, a cut-price deal is on the cards to bring the Wales international to Elland Road.
Davies, who has spent over 10 years at Tottenham, is out of contract in June, making him an attractive target for Leeds. The Whites have been linked with Davies before, and his experience and versatility would make him a valuable addition to Daniel Farke’s squad.
Leeds’ interest in Davies is likely driven by the injury issues surrounding Max Wober and Junior Firpo’s contract situation. Davies’ ability to play at left-back and center-back would provide Farke with more options in defense.
Joe Rodon, Davies’ Wales teammate, has spoken highly of the defender’s ability, describing him as someone who loves a 50-50 challenge. Rodon praised Davies’ tackle with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as one of the best things he’s seen on a football pitch.
While Tottenham’s injury list may impact their willingness to sell Davies, Leeds is reportedly pushing hard to secure the defender’s signature. If a deal can be agreed upon, Davies would become the sixth Wales international in Leeds’ squad, joining Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, Dan James, Karl Darlow, and Charlie Crew.
The transfer window is open until February 3, giving Leeds and Tottenham time to negotiate a deal. If successful, Davies’ signing would be a significant coup for Leeds, providing the team with experienced defensive cover and a boost to their promotion push.
