Seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton is set to make his highly-anticipated debut for Ferrari at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton, who joined Ferrari in January, has been preparing tirelessly for the new season and is feeling “as best prepared as could be” given the short time he has had with the team.
Speaking ahead of the Australian GP, Hamilton expressed his excitement about racing for Ferrari and competing in the iconic red car. “I’m now embarking on something brand new for me and something I didn’t think would happen when I turned 40,” he said. “I’m still pinching myself. Next week when I get to the race, I’m going to be starting a grand prix in red – wow! I don’t have the words to really explain how excited I am.”
Hamilton’s debut for Ferrari comes after 12 years with Mercedes, where he rewrote the sport’s record books. The 40-year-old is eager to start a new chapter in his career and is confident that he can make a significant impact with Ferrari.
Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc is also feeling optimistic about the team’s chances in the new season. “I’m super motivated,” Leclerc said. “Obviously, there has been so much work behind the scenes, and we want to try and win that one. We will see where we stand once we finish that first race and work from there.”
Team boss Frederic Vasseur is also confident that Ferrari can compete at the top level this season. “It was very difficult to draw a conclusion in Bahrain with these extreme conditions, but now we want to go back on track to fight and to race,” Vasseur said.
As Hamilton prepares to make his debut for Ferrari, he is aware that there will be a lot of attention on him. However, he is focused on delivering results on the track and is excited to get started. “I love racing,” he said. “All the other stuff is stuff I love less. Racing is what I love.”
The Australian GP will be a crucial test for Ferrari and Hamilton, and it will be interesting to see how they perform. With Hamilton’s experience and Leclerc’s talent, Ferrari has a strong lineup, and they will be looking to make a statement in the new season.
