Arsenal are strong favourites to complete a deal for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz and the player has reportedly reject other cluns and wants to play for Arsenal despite competition from Bayern Munich who won the Bundesliga sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (17 June) that Bayern have made a late move to beat the Gunners to the 24-year-old.

However, it is now believed the Bundesliga champions made their move too late – and Arsenal are now in pole position to wrap up Havertz’s arrival.

Real Madrid were widely linked with a possible move for the former Bayer Leverkusen ace but reportedly pulled out of the race after baulking at his asking price.

Chelsea are asking for a fee of around £70million to part with the versatile forward.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Blues will be forced to listen to reduced offers for Havertz as they look to balance the books this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are also looking to raise funds for a marquee striker signing of their own in the off-season.

Chelsea are open to the sale of Havertz following his mixed 2022-23 campaign – in which 47 appearances across all competitions yielded just nine goals and one assist.

He has managed 32 goals and 15 assists in 139 games for the Londoners since joining in 2020 – and scored the winner in the Champions League final against Man City in 2021.

Havertz, who earns a reported £250,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, has two years remaining on his Chelsea contract.

Arsenal are seeking to add more firepower to their squad as they prepare to return to the Champions League in the 2023-24 campaign.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are the current striking options for Mikel Arteta.
