Done Deal: Arsenal Strongest Lineup For Next Season If They Sign Jurrien Timber And Two Other Transfer Targets

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is not resting on his laurels after last season’s hugely promising performance in the Premier League. The Spaniard is keen to use the summer transfer window to its maximum, with three big signings totalling around £210million on the cards. Express Sport looks at how Arsenal could line up at the start of the new campaign in August.

Goalkeeper – Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale is a certainty to start in goal if he is fit. The England international recently committed his long-term future to the Gunners after another good season between the sticks.

Defence – Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko

Jurrien Timber is the first new face in this team. The Dutchman has emerged as the top defensive target for Arteta this summer.

A £30m bid has already been rejected by Ajax but a deal could be agreed at £50m. Timber could slot straight into an inverted right-back role, replacing Ben White.

William Saliba and Gabriel will remain the first-choice centre-back pairing despite Timber’s arrival, with White being pushed out of the team. Oleksandr Zinchenko is key to how Arteta’s team play when he starts at left-back.

Midfield – Rice, Odegaard, Havertz

Midfield sees two new arrivals. Declan Rice is the top transfer target for Arsenal in this window.

West Ham are likely to accept a fee of just over £100m after rejecting an opening offer of £90m last week. He would come straight into the XI to replace Thomas Partey, who is linked with a move of his own.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are said to have made a second bid worth £60m for Chelsea’s Kai Havertz. He could be used in a different role as a left-sided No 8 in Arteta’s team.

Havertz has spent the majority of his time at Chelsea as a striker but played further back earlier in his career. Captain Martin Odegaard will take up the third midfield spot.

Attack – Saka, Jesus, Martinelli

Two of Arsenal’s front three are almost untouchable. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are coming off the back of superb personal campaigns.

They will both keep their spots if fit in August. Gabriel Jesus played a big role in the transformation of Arteta’s team last term.

The Brazilian would have further competition with the arrival of Havertz. But Arteta is a big fan and will give him every chance to lead his line again.
