Mikel Arteta insists he doesn’t want to sell £120,000-a-week Arsenal player in January
Mikel Arteta has claimed that he wants Aaron Ramsdale to stay at Arsenal beyond the end of the January transfer window.
The Englishman was the undisputed number one at Arsenal, but he has lost his place to David Raya this season. He has spent most of the last few months on the bench, and that has resulted in rumours that he could be sold. Arteta, however, says he doesn’t want to lose him.

Mikel Arteta says he wants Aaron Ramsdale to stay at Arsenal
It was a real shock to everyone when Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta decided to drop Aaron Ramsdale back in September.
The Englishman hadn’t really done much wrong, but Arteta brought David Raya to the club in the summer, and right after the international break in September, he decided to give him an opportunity.
Raya had a tough start to life in an Arsenal shirt, but Arteta stuck by him. He kept him in the side despite his errors, and that led to rumours that Ramsdale will be on his way out in January.
The Englishman has been linked with a move away, with Newcastle United tipped as a potential destination following Nick Pope’s long-term injury.
However, Arteta made it clear in his press conference that he wants to keep hold of Ramsdale next month.

He said, as quoted by Football London “I want Aaron with us. I’m really happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us.
“He’s willing to play. Like any player, he wants to play for Arsenal. That’s what he wants to do. Then the other is a consequence. And as well for England, it’s not like he has started a lot of games, so hopefully we can help him be better here so then he can play for England.”

Arsenal should not sell Ramsdale
Aaron Ramsdale is a sensational goalkeeper, and he will not be happy sitting on the Arsenal bench.
The £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) Englishman has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League since he joined the Gunners. He has saved them on multiple occasions, but it is clear now that David Raya is Mikel Arteta’s number one.
However, selling Ramsdale in January could come back to haunt Arsenal. Everyone saw what happened to them in the title race when William Saliba wasn’t available last season – the same thing could happen in the coming months if Raya gets injured and Ramsdale is no longer at the club.
Unless a mammoth offer arrives on the table, we think Arsenal should keep Ramsdale at least until the end of this season.
