Manchester City has set a price tag for Phillips, indicating they are open to negotiations between £30 million and £40 million. Leeds has been informed of this valuation as they consider making a move for Phillips in the summer. However, West Ham, despite initially showing interest, has decided against pursuing a permanent deal for Phillips due to his lackluster performance in their colors.
A significant hurdle in Leeds’ pursuit of Phillips is his current wage at Manchester City, which stands at £150,000 per week, a figure well beyond Leeds’ financial reach. Despite this, Phillips’ strong connection to Leeds might play a crucial role, although it remains uncertain whether he would be willing to take a substantial pay cut to return to Elland Road.
