Arsenal unwilling to meet asking price for ‘phenomenal’ Liverpool target

Arsenal are reportedly unwilling to match Southampton’s asking price for Romeo Lavia, with Liverpool also chasing the Belgian international.

According to the Guardian, the north London side believe the Saints’ £50m demand for the 19-year-old midfielder are too rich having played just one season of professional football, with Lavia wanted this summer by Liverpool and Chelsea.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg, the Reds are even in talks to sign Lavia. Yet just like Arsenal, Liverpool are unwilling to meet Southampton’s full demands for the prospect, with the finances seemingly starting to become a sticking point for parties involved.

‘phenomenal’ talent, Lavia is easily one of the best youngsters in England after enjoying a breakout year with Southampton last season. However, with the Saints going down and now demanding £50m for the midfielder, Arsenal and Liverpool are well within their right to scoff at the figure.

Indeed, the Reds have made their stance clear on Lavia already. And with Arsenal now viewing the Belgian through a similar lense, it’s now unknown what could happen next in the hottest transfer saga of the Premier League window so far this summer.
