Everton: Dominic Calvert-Lewin exit mooted amid ‘cloud hanging over him’ at Goodison Park
Michael Brown has told Dominic Calvert-Lewin that he may need to leave Everton following his struggles so far this season.
Writing on the BBC Sport website on Thursday (11 April, 09:55am), the pundit said the England international still seems to have a “cloud hanging over him” regarding his previous injury problems.
He admitted that the 27-year-old may have some “pressure weighing on his shoulders” as he added that the forward perhaps needs some support despite recently ending his long goal drought.
“Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not on top of his game right now, he still seems to have the cloud hanging over him around injuries,” said Brown. “I know Dyche’s assistant manager Ian Woan and he loves crosses and finishing.
“He had a wonderful left foot and it was one of his favourite sessions out on the training pitch so he will be working with them on their finishing. But sometimes you can just be not in a happy place.
“Calvert-Lewin has been at the club for such a long period of time and he might be carrying around a little stigma of the situation and have a bit of pressure weighing on his shoulders. Maybe it does need a bit of support for him or maybe he needs to go play his football somewhere else.”
Could Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave Everton?
It’s been a difficult past couple of years for Calvert-Lewin after he was previously plagued by injuries before struggling in front of goal during this campaign.
The forward ended his 23-game goal drought when he thumped home a penalty in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on 2 April.

He then backed that up with another strike in the 1-0 victory over Burnley on 6 April, suggesting he may now have turned a corner.

There is a chance the Toffees could look to cash in on him this summer as his contract comes to an end in 2025 and they have postponed talks over a new deal until the end of this campaign.
Although his value will have dropped over the past couple of seasons, plenty of clubs would still be interested in him given his previous exploits at Goodison Park.
