West Ham United: ‘Final decision’ mooted in David Moyes sack update

David Moyes’ future at West Ham will be decided once the board reviews the whole campaign after the season ends, according to Sean Whetstone.

The 6Foot2 editor reported via X on Wednesday [17 April] that Moyes’ managerial position will be discussed during the summer ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Moyes has been under considerable pressure this season, with his defensive style of football criticised by the Hammers fans despite lifting the Europa Conference League last season.

Taking to X, Whetstone wrote: “The West Ham board will review the whole season with David Moyes after the season and, only after that dialogue, will a final decision be made between the two parties on the manager’s future after the summer.”

Will David Moyes be West Ham United manager next season?
Moyes’ impact at the London Stadium will never be forgotten, having led the Hammers to their first European trophy in decades last season.

However, football is a results-based sport, and those results have been far from ideal, especially since the start of 2024. It took until late February for West Ham to win their first match of the year.

West Ham ended that dire run with a win over Brentford, though recent performances have fallen by the wayside too.

Moyes’ side have claimed just one victory in their previous six matches in all competitions, losing three times to Newcastle United, Fulham and Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.

While progressing to the Europa League semi-final on Thursday 18 April could be a saving grace for the Scottish manager, frustrations continue to build around his tenure and voices calling for his sacking grow louder.

Managers from all over Europe have been linked with the managerial job at the London Stadium, with Jose Mourinho the most recent name to be rumoured, which could certainly have an impact on Moyes’ future.
