Done Deal: Leeds Strongest lineup for next season if they land all their transfer targets

Leeds United is gearing up for a busy summer transfer window as they aim to bounce back from their Championship playoff final defeat. With the club’s financial situation stabilizing after the takeover by 49ers Enterprises, manager Daniel Farke is expected to have funds available to strengthen his squad.

One area that needs attention is the goalkeeping position, with Illan Meslier’s inconsistent form making him a potential candidate for sale. Carl Rushworth, who impressed on loan at Swansea City last season, could be a viable option to replace him.

In defense, right-back Ben Johnson, who rejected multiple contract offers from West Ham, could join on a free transfer. Charlie Taylor, another free agent, could fill the left-back spot, while Pascal Struijk’s return from injury will bolster the center-back position. Joe Rodon, who impressed on loan last season, is still a target for a permanent deal.

In midfield, Ethan Ampadu’s return to the middle of the park could be crucial, with Archie Gray, who is attracting interest from top European clubs, potentially partnering him. Callum O’Hare, who is leaving Coventry City on a free, could fill the number 10 role, allowing Georginio Rutter to play on the right wing.

Upfront, Mateo Joseph could lead the line, with Fabio Carvalho, who is reportedly a target for Liverpool, potentially joining in a swap deal involving Crysencio Summerville. Dan James and Joel Piroe would provide quality depth in attack.

Leeds’ dream starting XI for the opening day of the season could look like this:

Rushworth; Johnson, Rodon, Struijk, Taylor; Ampadu, Gray; Rutter, O’Hare, Carvalho; Joseph

This lineup would address key areas of the squad and provide a strong foundation for a promotion push next season.
