Celtic have reportedly set their sights on Sandefjord’s Zinedin Smajlovic as they seek to bolster their defence.
After being linked with a potential move for KS Cracovia’s Oskar Wojcik, the Parkhead club are now thought to be interested in Smajlovic’s signature.
Smajlovic, a 22-year-old, is a highly regarded talent in Scandinavia, and has been performing strongly in the Norwegian top flight.
His physical prowess, calmness on the ball, and offensive contributions have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from various clubs.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Parkhead club have shown interest along with French side Toulouse and Norwegians Bodo/Glimt.
Smajlovic’s contract runs until December 2028 and Sandefjord could decide to cash in this summer rather than lose him for nothing next year.
The Swedish star was named in last season’s Eliteserien team of the season after making 26 appearances, scoring two goals and assisting twice.
This season, he has played every minute of the current campaign so far.
Celtic reportedly had a £3.5million bid rejected in January.
They could go back in for him this summer,
using Maik Nawrocki as a makeweight.
