Rangers News can exclusively reveal that Head of Performance Ceri Bowley is set to leave the club after just eight months in the role.
The Welshman was a key appointment back in September as the club looked to modernize its sporting structure, arriving with a high reputation after a successful stint at the City Football Group.
However, sources have told Rangers News that Bowley is now expected to move on as Michael Beale continues to reshape his backroom team ahead of a massive summer at Ibrox.
Ceri Bowley set for Rangers exit
Bowley was brought to the club under the previous management regime, specifically to work alongside then-sporting director Ross Wilson and former manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
His role was multifaceted, aimed at overseeing the integration of the first team, the academy, and the scouting departments to ensure a “one-club” philosophy.
At the time of his arrival, Wilson hailed Bowley as a “top-class” addition, noting his experience in coaching methodology and performance at the highest level of the game.
But since Michael Beale’s appointment in November, there has been a significant shift in the coaching and support staff.
With Ross Wilson also having departed for Nottingham Forest recently, and the club undergoing a wider structural review under new chairman John Bennett, Bowley’s short tenure is now coming to an end.
Michael Beale’s Ibrox rebuild
The departure of Bowley is another clear sign that Michael Beale is being given the authority to hand-pick the staff he believes are necessary to challenge Celtic next season.
Beale has already brought in trusted lieutenants like Neil Banfield, Damian Matthew, and Harry Watling.
The manager has been vocal about wanting a “leaner” and more efficient operation behind the scenes as he prepares for a squad overhaul that is expected to see several high-profile players arrive and depart.
For Bowley, his exit marks a surprisingly brief chapter at Ibrox. Having spent years as the Head of Coaching Support at City Football Group – where he worked across various clubs including Manchester City, Yokohama F. Marinos, and New York City FC – he is unlikely to be short of offers elsewhere.
Rangers fans are currently waiting for news on a new Sporting Director to replace Wilson, but in the meantime, Beale is leading the transition as the club looks to modernize once again.
