BREAKING — Celtic have been hlt with BAD NEWS from the Scottish FA amid International Break Heavy BL0W for The Celts

Alistair Johnston’s return from injury could not be better timed for the Hoops.

He is currently away with the Canadian squad, but is not expected to feature, and Celtic will be hoping he is fully fit again sooner rather than later.

Colby Donovan had a loan switch to Dundee collapse earlier in the season when AJ first picked up his injury. The youngster stepped in at that point and has stayed involved with the first team ever since.

With Julian Araujo dealing with injury issues, the Scotland under 21 international was handed a start at Tannadice at the weekend, but had to come off early after picking up a knock.

It now appears it may be more than just a minor issue.

The Scottish FA have confirmed that he has withdrawn from the squad ahead of their upcoming matches against the Czech Republic and Portugal.

Anthony Ralston has been named in the senior squad, despite sitting behind the Scotland under 21 international in the Celtic pecking order.

It remains unclear how serious Donovan’s injury is at this stage, just as there is still uncertainty around Mexican right back Julian Araujo. He has returned to Bournemouth to undergo treatment.

The international break should at least give players a chance to recover from any knocks or minor issues.

Martin O’Neill has also confirmed that Arne Engels is expected back within the next week or so. His absence has been a big blow for the team since his injury.
