Leeds United issue statement ahead of Brighton game
Leeds United have gotten into some trouble this season due to the behaviour of their home crowd. The controversy when Manchester City visited a few months ago dominated the headlines.
The club have also recently condemned discriminatory chants in the past few months. Leeds have taken steps to prevent any bad conduct by the spectators on Sunday, by issuing a statement on their zero-tolerance towards the use of any homophobic or discriminatory language.
An excerpt from the club statement on the website reads:
“Prior to Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United would like to remind supporters we have a zero-tolerance policy towards the use of any homophobic or discriminatory language, chanting, abuse or gestures and condemn this behaviour.”
“Elland Road is once again sold out and as always we appreciate your amazing support.”
“Following an incident of discrimination in March 2023, in our Premier League fixture against Sunday’s opposition at Elland Road, the club was fined £150,000 and provided with an FA Action Plan to help improve supporter behaviour moving forwards and prevent any recurrences.”
“Anyone identified in taking part in discrimination will face a lengthy stadium ban, so please think about your actions and the consequences both individually and for the club.”
The last home game of the season must be remembered for the right reasons
Fans must remember everything that has gone on this season, and how the campaign has been a success. Their first year back in the top flight has not been easy and needs to be celebrated.
Daniel Farke has lead this club to a very successful campaign, as they avoided relegation and made the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
